"Following the recent ERS-2 de-orbitation review, it has been confirmed that the payload will be permanently switched-off on 5 July 2011 (news of 21 April 2011).
The de-orbitation will start on 6 July. In September 2011, ERS-2 is expected to have reached the final disposal orbit below 600 km altitude ensuring a re-entry in the atmosphere within less than 25 years."
