This is the project summary covering progress in May 2009. During this reporting period we have addressed the comments raised by ESA and the Steering Team in response to the review of the Requirements Baseline document [D.1].
The final version of the Requirements Baseline will be available on the GlobWave Web Portal in the coming month for registered members. We are also continuining to address comments regarding the initial version of the web portal.
The Technical Specification document [D.2] has progressed significantly and resulted in a number of issues being identified and addressed concerning the products, services and tools that will be made available via the GlobWave Web Portal. In particular, a first draft of the Altimeter and SAR GlobWave product specification was circulated around the consortium for feedback. A significant amount of debate ensued and agreement was reached on the content of these GlobWave products. Also, as agreed during Progress Meeting 1, we are initially focusing on collecting a limited number of in situ data sources. These data sources are being identified based on size, geography and ability to measure directional spectra, which is important for SAR validation. Currently, informatin is still being acquired from appropriate data providers via e-mail and teleconferencing.
An abstract for an oral presentation was submitted for the International Workshop on Wave Hindcasting and Forecasting, which will take place in Halifax, Canada in October 2009. Also, we are pleased to announce that Jean Bidlot has agreed to become part of the GlobWave Steering Team on behalf of ECMWF.
