This is the project summary covering progress in March 2011.
Work has continued on the deliverables for PM4 on 4th May, 2011. They will be submitted on 21st April in advance of PM4 and we are on track to achieve this.
The only deliverable that will be delayed is the online tool which Ifremer are developing to query the satellite/buoy matchups. However, significant progress has been made here and a demo showing a real example of query, retrieval and visualisation will be shown at PM4, most likely using NODC buoy data. It is expected that the functionality will be complete and publically available during June.
The full list of deliverables for PM4 is:
- D.8: MDB Online Query Tool (Task 3)
- D.12: Global Wave Statistics (Task 4)
- D.13: Commencement of operations of NRT Data
- D.14: Verbal update on demonstration products status
- D.17: First Quarterly L2P Quality Control Report (Task 5)
- D.21: First 2 Operational PS-WFVS reports (Task 6)
- D.24: 3rd GlobWave newsletter (Task 7)
In addition to the monthly PS-WFVS reports NOC have been able to go beyond the requirements and provide automated daily reports for the preceding month and this functionality is now operational. Two operational reports have now been delivered to the UKMO (covering February and March). We are still facing problems with the SHOM reports as their data stream is not proving reliable but we were able to generate a March report for them. A data license agreement has been signed with ECMWF, with data upload to NOC planned to start on Monday 18 April.
University College Cork will assist in organising the second GlobWave User Consultation Meeting (UCM-2) to be hosted at the National Maritime College of Ireland (NMCI) in Cork on the 5-6th October, 2011. An announcement has been made to the wave community.
