This is the second project summary covering progress in March 2009. During this reporting period we have continued to focus on producing the Requirements Baseline document [D.1], which will be delivered to ESA on 16th April 2009.
The Consortium continued to work on their inputs for the Requirements Baseline document based on the completed questionnaires produced by Logica from telephone interviews with the User Group. Logica then used the Consortium inputs to produce a consistent and comprehensive Requirements Baseline document. The document was reviewed internally within the Consortium and the content discussed via e-mail, teleconferences and bi-lateral discussion where appropriate. Version 1.1 of the document was released to the User Group for review on 19 March, 2009. Logica have subsequently been contacting the User Group for feedback on the document in order to ensure that their requirements have been fully captured.
One particular area to note has been discussions with members of the User Group regarding in situ data that could be made available to GlobWave (see Section 3 of the Requirements Baseline document [D.1]). We very much appreciate the willingness of the User Group to share such data and will fully respect the wishes of users who do not wish their data to be publicly distributed. Where users are prepared for their data to be made publicly available we have offered to assist them in uploading to the Integrated Ocean Observing System (IOOS) Data Assembly Centre (DAC), operated by NOAA's NDBC. In addition we plan to incorporate other public in situ data not available from the NDBC such as NORUT and WaveNet data.
Activities have commenced on defining the detailed technical specification of the GlobWave system.
NOCS developed a poster abstract which was submitted to the OceanObs conference which will take place in September, 2009.
