January 2012

This is the project summary covering progress in January 2012.

The 5th GlobWave project meeting took place on 27th January 2012, and was focused on reviewing the final Phase 2 deliverables which had been submitted earlier in the month. These deliverables included the updated Product User Guide and Wave Data Handbook, new Quarterly and Annual Quality Control Reports and the Annual User Assessment.

Reprocessing of the ENVISAT GDR database taking into account changes in the way ESA processes this data was completed in January. It is hoped that processing of CryoSAT-2 data from NOAA into a GlobWave L2P format will be complete by the end of February.

Work continued in January of a new version of the online tool, with increase range of in situ verses satellite comparison. It is expected this new version will be available in March 2012.

January also saw the release of the 4th GlobWave newsletter which contained articles on the User meeting, how GlobWave data has been used in real case studies, the recently released altimeter database and updates on the GlobWave portal and outreach activities.
