February 2012

This is the project summary covering progress in February 2012.

A number of actions arising from the 5th GlobWave project meeting that took place in January have been executed. In particular modifications to a number of final Phase 2 deliverables have been made and accepted by ESA. These include the updated Product User Guide and Wave Data handbooks and new Quarterly and Annual Quality Control Reports.

The location and venue of the 3rd User Consultation Meeting has been announced. It will take place on the 7th and 8th November 2012 at the headquarters of the European Maritime Safety Agency in Lisbon, Portugal. This information has been distributed to GlobWave users and other interested parties on a number of ways.

A sample dataset of CryoSAT-2 data reprocessed into the GlobWave L2P format has been created and distributed within the consortium for review. Once it has been accepted operational processing will begin.

Work continued in February of a new version of the online tool, with an increased range of in situ verses satellite comparisons. It is expected this new version be available in March 2012. A revised version of the online GlobWave lesson was released in February, which now uses quality parameters to mask out land areas.
